It’s panto time – oh yes it is!

We are delighted to announce that next year’s panto will be Cinderella.  It will be performed in Copthorne Village Hall on 26-29 January 2017.

A read through and introduction to auditions will be held at the village hall on Sunday 4th September at 3pm – 5pm with auditions taking place at the Morgan Hall on Sunday 11th September at 3pm – 5pm.  We are looking for principles and chorus along with help behind the scenes with everything from costumes to scene painting.  If you are interested in being involved either on stage or off please contact the director, Nicki Barnett by email nicki.barnett@btinternet.com to register.

The auditions will be informal but anyone interested in a principal role will be required to read a short extract from the script and sing (where there are solos or duets).  The chorus will be asked to participate in some basic dance moves and some company singing.  Audition pieces will be available shortly.

We look forward to welcoming you for a fun couple of hours on 4th and to being part of our Pantomime.  Please feel free to forward to family, friends and anyone else you think might be interested in joining us.  We would love to welcome new members.

Copthorne Players celebrates 45 years at their Summer Party

On Sunday 2nd August the Players celebrated 45 years with a summer party and BBQ.  We were incredibly lucky with the weather and had lovely sunshine throughout.

There was a great turnout, and everyoIMG_20150802_150912508ne had a lot of fun catching up and playing table tennis, croquet, skittles and table football.  Jeremy hosted a brilliant quiz and there was even a huge game of Team Charades.

Thanks to all of the members who spent time organising, setting up and ensuring the afternoon ran smoothly.  Everyone had a brilliant time.  Hopefully, Keith and Val will be kind enough to use their beautiful garden as a venue again next year!

We are famous!

Well, sort of…

Jacquie, super-star choreographer who has been super-busy putting us all through out paces for ‘Showstoppers’ spotted the players in the Daily Mail:

“Amusing article in the Daily Mail regarding Copthorne Hotels sending a cease and desist letter to the Copthorne Association saying they cannot under legal terms use the name of their Copthorne and Millenium group however…..here is one of the photos of our hall with the poster outside! Can’t get better advertising than that!”

Showstoppers runs from 14th to 16th May at the Chequer Mead Arts Centre.  Tickets are available from the Box Office on 01342 302000
